Barbara Adams Moon Obituary

Barbara Moon

Barbara Lee Adams Moon, 90, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.

Barbara was born in Thomaston to her parents, Robert Lee Adams and Lillie Mae Lowery Adams. She spent her early years at the Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill before the family settled in Brunswick. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1951, and went on to complete her studies at Perry Business School in 1952. While in Brunswick, Barbara met Richard Dean Moon, who had recently served in the U.S. Navy at the time. After encouragement from their families, the two were wed and built their home together in Brunswick, where they raised three boys.

Barbara's early employment included working at Sears in the loan department, Parker Kaufman Realty and later as a secretary in the guidance counselor's office at Brunswick High until her son, Rex, graduated high school. She then went on to serve as executive secretary for the school superintendent's office, where she faithfully served before retiring after 25 years of service

Family and faith were central to Barbara's life. She was a devoted mother who cared for her sons, especially Rex, who was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 7. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and later College Place United Methodist Church where she was active in many church activities. Most recently, Barbara found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She especially loved watching hummingbirds, cardinals and squirrels. During her time at Hospice of the Golden Isles, she was instrumental in helping other residents obtain bird feeders for their windows, bringing comfort and peace to many through her thoughtfulness and love of wildlife.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm spirit, her devotion to family, and her deep roots in the Brunswick community.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Rex Anthony Moon; and a brother, William Delone Adams.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Lee Moon and Richard Dean Moon Jr. (Kenneth Brown), all of Brunswick; sister, Miriam Adams Maddison of Brunswick; niece, Melinda Rush (William) of Brunswick; nephew, John Adams (Karen) of Brunswick; great-niece, Megan Rush of Arvada, Colorado; and two great-nephews, Justin and Logan Adams of Brunswick.

At Barbara's request, her services will be private.

She asked that, in her memory, if you see a person in need of a hug, a kind word or a helping hand, please give that gift to them, just as she and her family were blessed to be recipients of those gifts from others throughout their lives. For those wanting to make a monetary donation, the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
