ANSONIA: Barbara J. (Dufresne) Alcutt, age 92, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late James F. Alcutt Jr.


Born in Waterbury on January 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Fregeau Dufresne. Early on, Barbara was employed at the Robert Shaw Corporation in Milford for eleven years then as a customer service representative for Greco & Haines in Derby until her retirement. She was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and enjoyed watching daily Mass on television. Barbara was a member of the Ansonia Senior Center. She loved bowling, solving crossword puzzles and listening to Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, and Il Divo.


Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, sons, James F. Alcutt III (Elizabeth) of Derby, John J. Alcutt of West Palm Beach, FL, and Daniel B. Alcutt (Gina) of Salem, OR, daughters, Patricia Ann Criscuolo (Bill) of Holiday, FL, and Suzanne M. Taylor (Michael) of Caroga Lake, NY, eighteen grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Francis J. Dufresne and Richard J. Dufresne and sisters, Patricia DeMaro and Joan Gittings. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the nurses and staff at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton, especially Bre, for their wonderful care.


Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral will then proceed to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
