Barbara Altman

I am sorry to hear of Barbara's recent death. I first met her in 1977 when I started my Ph.D. program at the University of Maryland. I was her TA briefly, but we became friends and I always looked forward to seeing her, usually at the ASA meetings over the many years since I graduated from UMD. I remember Barbara as a warm, supportive person who treasured her family as well as her professional work in disability studies.
