Not sure what to say?

Professor Ayres was the most demanding and the best professor I ever had. I took every course she taught that I could manage in the time I had at UMB. And it was because I had loved her that I thought of looking her up, only to find that she has died. She will always have a place in my heart.

I knew Barbara as an educator, mentor and spirited leader in pursuit of understanding. She provided a beautiful example of an engaged life to a young woman of the '70s who was searching for meaning, and I will always be in her debt. Thank you, Barbara, for all of your gifts.

Barbara was a very special part of our lives. She was a dear friend of my parents, and she was very special to me and to my sister. I loved Barbara and I am so glad I was able to speak to her and tell her that the day before she left us. I am so glad I have been able to connect with Becky, Barbara's sister. Even though Barbara is not with us, there is a part of Barbara with me, inspiring me to be a life-long learner and listener, to be strong, and to appreciate the diversity of life.
