Not sure what to say?

She Dr. Bixby was my best English teacher. She made me a better student by her knowledge and great teaching skills. A joy to be with. Bigger people make better people.

What a small world... Living in Tennessee years after moving from Florida, as an adult... I met a literary agent whose wife was in Mrs Bixby's class at Mel High. She was adored by many and loved by all and even missed today.

Mrs. Bixby was my high school English teacher for three years (yes!) and I can say truthfully that she was the most influential force in my intellectual development in my life. Her encouragement and guidance led me to become a writer, and book reviewer, and gave me the nerve to reach for the stars. Amazing lady in every way! What's more she had an unwavering moral compass that left a permanent impression, I believe, on all of her students. --Margaret Langstaff (Peggy)

Mrs. Bixby was my high school senior year English teacher. She was a wonderful teacher.

I have such fond memories of Ms. Bixby. She was a class act and allowed me, one of Will's friends, to somber into their home without a single knock... Something that astonishes me today. I once found a stash of old maps rolled up in tubes... Ms. Bixby was wallpapering one of her walls in maps and I gave the maps to her. I was proud to look at that wall in their house knowing I had contributed to her creativity. (I'm not sure if any of my maps made it to the wall)
She was the first to...

I am going to share my favourite snap shots that I recall of a great woman. 1. Barbara was a legend at Mel-Hi (before I was a student there). There is this famous story of her staging a fight in her class room and then asking her students to write down their version of events. It showed that a group of people could all come up with different versions of an event. A real innovator. 2. I was never lucky enough to have Barbara as teacher except once I sat in one of her classes at Brevard...

Barbara was a classy lady and an outstanding English teacher. I remember telling her at Dr. Brown's 90th birthday celebration at MelHi that as her student I was in love with her and she gave me a big hug! I especially remember the speed reading class she taught.

Mrs. Bixby was a brilliant and caring English teacher, and an inspiration to so many of us who were her students at Mel High. I will never forget her and am so glad to have known her.
