Barbara, (Babs) was my "second" mother beginning in the fifth grade when I met her through her fifth grade son Richard who became a life long friend. She was a beacon of warmth, humor, encouragement and goodwill and always made you feel good about yourself just by being in her company. She baked a wicked loaf of banana bread and hid it along with other great snacks in the dishwasher. Yes, she did prefer washing dishes by hand and stowing the treats where she thought no one would look. ...
