BRANDON-CHAVIS, Barbara, departed this life, August 13, 2012. She was a retired employee of VCU. Cherishing her memory is her husband, Samuel Chavis; three children, Anita Brandon, Eric Brandon (Kathryn), and Karen Ford (Nicholas); four stepchildren, Carol Atkins (Sandford), Kathy Gilchrist (Ronald), Bruce Chavis (Cindy), and Sandra Gilliam (Eugene Wells); four grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma S. Anderson and Patricia S. Harris (Walter); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, where funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. Rev. Lawrence B. Samuel officiating. Interment Dale Memorial Park.
