Barbara A. Broadbent, 83, of Sentinel Hill Road, Attleboro, passed away in Sturdy Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 14, 2009, after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late John H. Broadbent, Jr., with whom she celebrated thirty seven years of marriage.

Born Barbara A. Hayward in Attleboro, MA on February 1, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Campbell) Hayward. A lifelong Attleboro resident, she was educated in Attleboro schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School Class of 1943.

A homemaker, Barbara also enjoyed tennis and golf. She was accomplished at both calligraphy and tole painting. She was a member of the Attleboro Ski Club for sixty years, and a past member of both the Pierian Club and Highland Country Club.

Barbara is survived by a son: Dale Broadbent and his wife Karen of Attleboro, a sister: Marjorie Tremblay of Attleboro, a granddaughter: Kerrin Servais and her husband Peter of North Attleboro, and two great-granddaughters: Devin Fahey and Kate Servais.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 5PM – 8 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, and for those wishing to remember Barbara in a special way, memorial contributions may be made to: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Bing Center for Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.
