Brundige - Barbara Jo, passed away Thursday, February 9th, at age 77, after a long battle with breast cancer. She died peacefully at home with her family around her. Barbara was the daughter of Howard and Ida Mae Shoen, who were educators and founders of North Shore Day School in Glen Cove....

In the early 1960´s , Barbara was my camp counselor at North Shore Day Camp. She was just a teenager, and I was an awkward 7-year-old , but what a patient and compassionate person she was! I started out terrified of horses...but thanks to "Miss Barbara " learned to enjoy horseback riding...which I still enjoy today. I am so sad to hear of her passing, but comforted in the knowledge that she was loved by so many !
