Not sure what to say?

My beautiful Barbara, mentor and inspiration. Your indefatigable creative spirit will live in my heart forever - and in the hearts of all of us who were blessed to know you. My prayers and love go out to Fred, Andrea, family and friends.

Barbara has been a source of constant inspiration for me since I first encountered her in the Hi Concept summer class at Tech. She will continue to have a huge rippling effect through all the kids that have been in the classes of all of the teachers that have been touched by her artful magic. Thank you, Fred for sending The Louise Plays...it was another soothing touch from her. Katherine

Barbara was a beautiful, creative person and an inspiration to all of us. She, indeed, will be sorely missed, but has left a strong legacy. Condolences to Fred, Andrea, and all the family.

Dear Fred and Barbara's family--Jim and I were saddened to read of Barbara's passing. She was a good educator, colleague, and mentor and I'm sure she will be sorely missed by countless people. Please accept our sympathy and prayers at this most difficult time.

Sincerely,
Loretta and Jim Buffer

Barbara was a dear mentor and inspiration to me while a student at Virginia Tech. I've written a memorial to her of my own memories and thoughts.

I was a graduate student at Virginia Tech and had the privilege to be one of Barabara's pupils. She opened my small-town eyes to a world of new ideas, of which I will never forget.

Barbara - you were an intense mentor and will always live on in my heart and mind.

Fred and Andrea,

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Wes, my son, had alerted me concerning Barbara's illness.

It is really quite amazing how many "intersects" Barbara and I shared, yet we really didn't know one another. I grew up in Columbus and am a graduate of North High ('42), O.S.U.('52and '56), and taught at M.S.U.('56-'91). Of course Andrea, you, and I worked together when I was on the board of my undergrad alma mater--Olivet.

Having only met her recently, my nick name for her was "Our Lady of the Shingles" which she was suffering from at the time. That title always got a chuckle from her which was my aim! She edited a video for me adding the perfect Miles Davis score and did a superb job on the project telling me that, "if I got the acting job in the film (I did) I would be obliged to pay her!!" The nerve of the woman!! What I knew of her was a keen sense of humor and the understanding of the human spirit that...

Barbara was an amazing woman, she loved life and lived it well. She was so accomplished. She was an inspiration to me and others in our book club. She will be sorely missed.
