Barbara L. Chaney (nee Owens)

Chaney, Barbara L. (nee Owens), passed away, Monday, August 18, 2025.

Beloved wife for 59 years of Gary Chaney; devoted mother of Lesley (Lori) Chaney and Jill (Will) Chaney-Lipe; cherished grandmother of Shelby Lipe; dear sister of Harriette Hunt and the late Dorothy Buttry; dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Barbara was an active member of Pontoon Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois. She and Gary loved to travel and taught their girls early and often how to properly go on a road trip, giving them an early love for the beach and Disney. Barbara loved spending time with her sisters, mostly shopping. Christmas was her favorite holiday including the music, lights, and entertaining. The friends of the girls always said that Barbara and Gary provided an example of what a marriage and family should look like. Barbara was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Services: Memorial Visitation at Community Christian Church, an open and affirming church, 623 Meramec Station Road, Manchester, Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of Service at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Alzheimer's Association.
