Barbara Jean Conder

CONDER, Barbara Jean McCamus –Age 75. Barbara Jean McCamus was born to Ronald and Ann (Smith) McCamus in Willmar, Minnesota and graduated from Willmar High School in 1955. She had degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin. Barbara and John Conder were married August 23, 1970 and moved to Nashville shortly thereafter. Barbara was a professor of English, having taught at Carleton College, the University of Tennessee, Tennessee State and Vanderbilt University. A nature lover, she was often seen walking her dogs. Barbara supported the Nashville Symphony and The Nature Conservancy. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, a professor of English at Vanderbilt University. She is survived by her sister, Beverly J. Toppin of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; nieces Katherine Mugge (Scott) of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Eilene Ording (Jeffrey) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Nancy Varichak (Michael) of Fridley, Minnesota. She is also survived by three grand-nieces and a grand-nephew. A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday 23rd of February at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Humane Society.
