Honaker Funeral Home Obituary

Barbara B. Cook was born on August 24, 1947 to Isadore (deceased) and Irene Barthelemess (deceased) in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

Barbara was sister to Jerry Barthelemess (deceased).

Barbara fell in love and married the love of her life, Oliver Morris Cook Jr. on September 6, 1963.  To this union four children were born named Clayton, Charlotte, Jessica and Janell.  She loved spending quality time with all her family.

Barbara took time to learn what the Bible really teaches.  She began to love the promises of the Bible.  On September 6, 1970, Barbara decided to dedicate her life to the Most High, Jehovah God and symbolized that dedication by water baptism.  She remained faithful for her entire life.  Often the community would see her volunteering her time sharing what she learned with others from the Bible in Mandeville, Louisiana.  When Barbara would see her family and friends learning the hopes of the Bible, this made her so happy.

Barbara was truly a person who loved her family.  For over 40 years, she got to know her community and work in Retail Management.

Barbara fell asleep in death on June 25, 2020.  Clayton Douglas Cook (Cynthia) her only son preceded her in death.  She leaves behind three daughters: Charlotte Guidry (Derrin), Jessica Mason (Joe) and Janell Callender (Cody).  Twelve grandchildren: Christopher Cook (Christen), Kerry Ball (Jennifer), Naquisha Forstall (Harold), Amber Guidry, Kevin Guidry Jr., Blair Mason, Chase Mason, Clayton Ticker, Gabrielle Collins (Devin), McKenzie Ticker, McKayla Ticker, Trista Murray.  Nineteen great-grandchildren: Clayton Cook, Tyler Cook, Brittney Jacques, Laci Lee, Dillion Ball, Tyler Ball, Lanesha Forstall, Domonick Landry, Toby Ball, Jayden Perrilloux, Dantray Young Jr., Adrian Wickliffe, Brayden Stogner, Abrieanna Stogner, Jaden Woody, Jaelyn Lawrence Russell, Jayleigh Star Russell, Dante’ Cole Crandle and Shy’ia Ann Crandle.

Three cousins: Bonnie, Cheryl, Gayle and a host of family, friends, and community.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460. COVID19 restrictions apply.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

Life is so precious. I had the joy of meeting and working with Mrs. Barbara for close to 6 years. She knew how to tell it like it was. Heaven gained another amazing person. Keep watch over my son and co worker.

To the family stay strong and keep Barbara's spirit alive.

Rest in peace Ms B
