Barbara Ann (Scott) DeCesare, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at home surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved wife of Anthony L. DeCesare with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.


Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of Rita (Kelly) and George Scott. She was a  graduate of Little Flower High School, West Chester University, and did graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania receiving the award of Institute for Local History. She was employed at Bangor Area School District as an English teacher for 30 years before retiring in 1997.


She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Roseto, PA.


She was a past treasurer of the Pennsylvania State Education Association of School Retirees, Chairperson of the Roseto Planning Commission, created the Roseto Historic Events Calendar, and was an active member of the Roseto Cent'Anni Committee.


During her high school and college years, Barbara was an award-winning majorette. She was chosen to be on the National Baton Twirling Association Chapter Queen of the Phillyettes for 1960. Barbara was Miss Majorette of Phillyettes in 1960, Miss Philadelphia Area Baton Twirling week in 1959, runner up to Miss Congeniality in 1960, and runner up to Miss Majorette of Philadelphia in 1960. She was the winner of numerous trophies, medals, and honors. She was the soloist for the Phillyettes in parades and twirled one, two, firelight, flag hoop, and novelty batons.


Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Anthony, a daughter Roxanne DeCesare, a brother Edward Scott (Marie), a brother James Scott (Ying), a sister Patricia Orzechowski, a sister-in-law Mary Jo Stofflet (Naim Rizk), nephews Eric Orzechowski (Linda), and Paul Orzechowski (Jennifer), niece Erica Stofflet (fiancé John DeBoer), great-nephews Eric Orzechowski and Michael Roper, and great-nieces Mikaela Roper and Julie Orzechowski. She was predeceased by her parents, brother-in-law Jeffrey Stofflet, nephew Timothy Roper, and great-niece Megan Orzechowski. 


Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, May 24th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, "Village of Johnsonville" Bangor, PA, and from  10 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 25th at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 25th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Third and Garibaldi Avenues, Roseto, PA. Interment will follow at New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.
