Not sure what to say?

Barbara was a lifelong friend of my mom, Virginia Lawhorn Rice. They grew up near each other in East Dallas. Our families were together for many holiday and social events and I always remember their home in Oak Cliff as the place where I was introduced to the Beatles. As a DISD elementary school student in the 1960's she was always a little bigger than life to me because she was on TV. Later in life it gave me great joy that she got to know my son Trevor, who spent two summers as a volunteer...

Barbara was my friend for over 40 years. She was one of the most vital and charming women I have ever known. She was one of the women with whom I could talk politics. I feel so lucky to have known her from her kera days almost up to the end of her life. I will miss her terribly. My condolences to the family. Claudia Stravato

I always thought "Mrs. DeVoss", as I knew her, had the most infectious laugh and smile of anyone. Enjoyed watching her on Channel 13 and attended all my school years with daughter, Diane. Remember seeing her several years ago at a Sunset High School anniversary celebration, and she was just a outgoing as I remembered her. My condolenses to Diane and David and all the family.

It was my joy to know Barbara from my childhood. She and my mother became friends when they worked together for the DISD, and I was lucky enough to be included in a few of their adventures. In every memory I have, she was always gracious, always kind. Her vivacious spirit and bubbly laughter were contagious (and she had the most wonderful travel stories of anyone I have known). I will miss her dearly, but she was so full of joy that every memory of her will brighten the day, just the way...

I have had the priviledge of helping Barbara and her family for the last year and a half. She and I had many great conversations and laughed a lot. I am so lucky to have been in her life at this time. I grew up with her son David, who I have known since second grade. She and I became truly good friends and I miss her terribly already. She was always positive and had beautiful things to say, always. She loved her children and grandchildren so much. She was a great lady and I hope to see her...

My first job in museum education was at the Meadows Museum. Barbara was coordinating all the school field trips for Dallas Public Schools. I met with Barbara to talk with her about how to arrange for schools to visit the Meadows. From that meeting, we became friends and she became a docent at the Meadows Museum. She loved giving school tours and thrived on the energy from the children who participated on her tours. She was a strong advocate for all cultural organizations in Dallas and...
