Obituary

On Friday, April 24, 2020 Barbara J. Hicks Ford (Jeannie) entered into eternal peace at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center with her loving daughter Sharron by her side.
Barbara was born in Faulkner, Maryland on April 19, 1957 to the late James and Frances Hicks whom preceded her in death on January 11, 1963. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laticia Miles and a son, Marcus Miles.
Barbara graduated from LaPlata High School in 1975. On June 25, 1994 she was united in marriage to Eugene Ford, Sr. Barbara was employed by Civista Hospital for many years before leaving and going on to work as a contractor for the Federal Government until her health declined and she retired.
Barbara loved to cook, talk trash and was the life of the party. She said whatever was on her mind. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was well loved by her coworkers and had a heart of gold. She was a great friend and considered to be a part of the family to many, not only in times of need but all the time. Whenever called upon she would offer her help in any way possible because she was a giver at heart. She had a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. She will be missed for her affectionate way of saying "Okay bae."
Barbara leaves behind to celebrate her life a son, Anthony I. Miles; a daughter, Sharron D. Miles; a granddaughter, Vijay Miles; three grandsons, Mark Butler, Jr., Izaiah Miles and Daewon Smart ; four sisters, Joan (William), Linda (Casey), Frances (Carl), Brenda; two brothers, James (Odessa) and George (Joanne); two aunts, Elizabeth Campbell (whom became legal guardian to she and her seven siblings after the passing of her parents) and Elsie; two uncles, George and John and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including those at the Maples where she lived.

Gone too soon, condolences to your family

My name is Theresa Brawner-Cline. My aunt is Elizabeth Campbell. I send my condolences to the family. I did not know her very well but know she was and still is a child of God. Rest in peace. Your going home in peace and will be remembered as a friendly kind soul.

I am so glad my friend that I got to share your 62nd birthday with you last year and I know it was Gods will that made me make that trip home to be with you at that time. He knew that he was going to designate you as one of his angels soon and that occasion was a chance for me to see my long time friend and tell her how much I loved her. We spoke again last Christmas and texted each other this March when this virus made the world crazy...at that time you said whatever God has for me I am...

May the Memories of Ms. Barbara and the Love of Family surround you and give you Strength in the days ahead.

I am saddened to hear I lost a childhood friend. Lots of memories. My condolences go out to the family. Your memories will last forever in my heart.
