Not sure what to say?

I was just looking up Ms. Gibson with the intent to tell her how much she helped me as a very troubled teen in my early days at The Evergreen State College. I found that she had recently passed. Barbara gave me the gift of being able to speak my truth, as scattered and disintegrated as it was. I always meant to get back to her to tell her how much she meant to me then. God bless you, Barbara. And thank you so so much. --David

Some years ago, I got a call on my cell phone while on a trip to Oregon from some woman named Barbara Gibson whom I did not know. She proceeded to explain (cajole, wheedle, sweet-talk, arm-twist) about how I was needed as a board member of some organization called Interfaith Works, which I was only vaguely aware of. I responded with all the reasons why I was probably not the right person, had other commitments, blah blah blah, and she, like a major league slugger, deftly swatted each one...

It was always such a delight to see Barbara & Carol walking down our road to their special seal viewing platform! It's fitting that Lars & I will think of you, Barbara....when sitting in that spot and looking out at the beautiful view.

Darling Bibs. The most beautiful woman I have ever known. I'd say "go with God", but you always have. It seems odd to wish you to rest in peace. Instead maybe this: go make trouble in peace, go enjoy yourself wildly in peace, go create love and enjoyment and beauty in peace. Love forever.

Barbara was an extraordinarily beautiful woman who exuded kindness, intelligence and humor. Much love to Carol and the family.

Her kindness created a haven of solace for all. Peace be upon her.

Our beautiful Barbara! What a life and what a woman. My deepest condolences to her family.

Barbara was woman with many gifts; a strong drive for social justice, a gentle heart full of compassion, a fierce intellect and an unwavering integrity. I am particularly grateful for her civil rights work in Milwaukee, where she truly risked her life for what she believed in. She lived the life she believed in, setting an invaluable model for the rest of us.

May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.

A force of life , lived to its fullest! How graced we were by her Spirit
