Not sure what to say?

Dear Jeff and Matt:
Oh, how heartbreaking to learn of Barb's passing, a year and a half later. That's why my e-mails went unanswered. I met your wife, your mom, Barb, at a writer's workshop party in Barrington in 1990 or 1991 and never forgot her. She delighted everyone with her quick sense of humor and intelligence. I'd kept in touch over the years, mostly via e-mail, and always hoped she'd publish a novel. The kids she taught at her high school were lucky indeed. She is someone...

Dear Jeff and Matt,
I was saddened to learn of Barb's passing while reading my sorority's newsletter today. We were Alpha Gams at Northwestern together and I remember her smile and loving wisdom. Please accept my heartfelt condolences as you continue your healing journey.

On behalf of Jeff, Matt and the rest of Barb’s family let me express our heartfelt thanks to all those who have expressed their condolences. So many of you came, send letters, emails and gifts. Henry Adams wrote “A teacher affects eternity; she can never tell where her influence stops.” Students from last spring joined students from 25 years ago. At times like this it is healing to be reminded that my baby sister touched so many.

Thank you.

Even though people remember Barb's infectious laugh, I will always think of her as having a gentle spirit. Criticisms were couched in kindness and encouragement just flowed from her. I always left my encounters with Barb feeling better about who I was and what I did. I hope that you, Jeff and Matt, will feel that same sort of kindeness and encouragement as you learn to live life without your wife and mom.

Dear Jeff and Matt,
Now retired from being the first librarian at VHHS, I knew your beloved wife and mother while working as the librarian at LHS for many years. She touched all of her colleagues with her incredible wisdom, superior teaching methods, and great love of her students. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. My husband and I were out of town for her funeral, but since my parents are buried at All Saints, I will be visiting her often. With Love & Prayers ...

Dear Jeff and Matthew, As we remember Barbara, she is a part of us now for eternity. We loved your wife and mother as a colleague, friend, and inspiration always. Even though her time here was short, she remains a standard to which we will continually aspire. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dear Jeff and Matt,
My heart goes out to you at this time. Barbara was a brilliant and beautiful woman. She had such a wit and humor about her. I loved her from the first day when she came to LHS to join our English staff. She was so overworked and I felt so sorry for her. Then, with the onset of her diabetes it was so tragic to see all her suffering over the years. She and I were like sisters in so many ways. I cannot fully realize that she is gone from us.
All of my love...

Thank you Mrs. Gwin for being a wonderful teacher and role model for the students at LHS. You will be missed by many but you will always be remembered.
