Barbara V. "Fuzz" Harding, 88, of Pen Argyl, PA, passed away Friday, January 29th, at her residence.
Barbara was born in Pen Argyl, PA on November 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Alfred and Pearl (Grigg) Smith.
She was the widow of Douglas C. Harding, who passed away in 2000. Barbara and her late husband, Douglas, co-owned and operated the former Harding's Department Store in Pen Argyl, PA, from 1968 until 1999. Barbara was a 1945 graduate of Pen Argyl High School, where she was a majorette. She was also pictured as the Fairest of the Month in the Homefront Magazine when she was 18 years old. Barbara was known for her 20 year old geraniums that adorned her front porch every summer.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pen Argyl since 1946.
Barbara is survived by two daughters, Valerie Viglione and her husband, Phil, and Dana Apgar and her husband, John, all of Pen Argyl; a brother, Thomas Smith, of Pen Argyl; 3 grandsons, Ryan Shafer and his wife, Nicole, Wade Shafer, and Philip Viglione; 2 great granddaughters, Mackenzie Shafer and Macie Weber; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Poust and Joyce Fehr, and one brother, Richard Smith.
Funeral services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 404 E. Mountain Ave., Pen Argyl, PA, at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 3rd, with Rev. John Pfeil and Rev. Ronald Shipman officiating. Friends are invited to call Wednesday 10 - 11:30 AM in the church. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B.
