Barbara Jean Harris, 80, of New Ross, IN, passed away at home, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 after a hard battle with cancer.

She was born July 11, 1935 in Lebanon, IN, daughter of the late Raymond and Garnet (Ford) Lister.

Barbara was married to Jerry Harris for 28 years. He survives.

She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1953. She worked for Dr. Honan for nearly 30 years. Barbara enjoyed her family and loved cooking and making pies for her boys. She loved being outside, gardening and antiquing.

In addition to her husband, Jerry Harris, she is survived by her sons, Dennis (Linda) Schenck of Lebanon, Drs. Jeff (Beth) Schenck of Milwaukee, WI, Steve (Tammy) Schenck of Thorntown and James (Janie) Schenck of Thorntown, stepson, Jon Harris of Crawfordsville and stepdaughter, Joni (Bill) Hutchison of Crawfordsville,11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and siblings, Floyd, Thelma, Marilyn, Norma and Rose Anne.

She was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Amanda, and siblings, Ruby, Maxine and Gene.

Family and friends will gather from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, Indiana. A private burial will take place at a later date at New Ross Cemetery.
