Not sure what to say?

Barbara inspired me more than I was ever able to tell her as a child of the Whippany Church. Today, as an ordained minister, I teach at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, and each year I share memories of her with my students because in many ways she taught and shaped me more than any of the fine Sunday School teachers or even pastors. She didn't just "read Scripture". The power of the Word exuded from her. I came across her obituary while thinking about her and...

May God rest Barbara's soul in peace. We were good friends since approximately the late 1950s. Although we
did not see each other often, we usually communicated during the holidays. She will be missed. Sincere sympathy.

I always enjoyed talking to Barbra from Whippany Grammar School until our last chat at an MHS Class of 54 High School reunion.

My sincerest condolences to all of you she left behind.

My husband Harry and I were members of Whippany Pres. from 1955 to 1983 when we were transferred to AR but I will always remember Barbara's Christmas Eve reading. I can close my eyes and picture her now. Elma Haft

There are people, from H.S., you wonder and think about, even though you never see them again. Barbara Thompson Howell was one of those. She was always a nice person to be around, and she made me feel good.

Joseph, your words brought all that back to me; this was one of the nicest obituaries I've ever read, and I could feel your (and your son's) love for her while reading it.

Sending prayers for your family & friends.

Barbara and I were truly life long friends. Our mothers met in the hospital when we were born, one day apart. Our mothers used to visit one another, and Barbara and I were childhood playmates. We attended Morristown High School together and both of us had a burning desire to go on to college. Barbara was in my wedding and we shopped together, shared our dreams, hopes and wishes. We rejoiced in the birth of our children and shared my world travels and her amazing success in the business...
