CONCORD - Barbara Ann Lamarre, 86, of Concord, died at the Merrimack County Nursing Home on Jan. 20, 2013. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving husband, David, and other family members.

Barbara was born in North Abbington, Mass., on May 15, 1926, and grew up in Willimantic, Conn.

She graduated from Windham (Conn.) High School in 1944 and earned her degree in nursing from Notre Dame College in Manchester in 1946. She worked as a nurse in Connecticut, California and New Hampshire. While living in Concord, she worked at the state hospital, the former Pillsbury Hospital and Concord Hospital, where she worked as a nurse on the maternity ward for many years. She also spent a number of years as an administrator with the N.H. Department of Health and Human Services.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers at Lake Winnisquam during the summers. She enjoyed being outdoors, from the scenery of the mountains and lakes to the beauty of the New England coast. She also liked traveling to Europe on vacations with her husband.

She was an avid golfer and held memberships at several courses over the years, including Beaver Meadow in Concord, Waukewan in Meredith and Plausawa Valley in Pembroke. Her many accomplishments in golf include Women's First Flight City Champion and a hole in one while a member at Waukewan.

She was also a talented decorative painter and needlework artist. She was recognized as a winner of an "On Your Own Time" award while working for the state of New Hampshire, and had her work displayed at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester. Many of the objects she made or decorated have become family heirlooms. She was also an excellent baker and enjoyed trying new recipes.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, David Lamarre of Concord; her son, Douglas Lamarre and daughter-in-law Penny Lamarre of Lakeport; her daughter, Patricia and son-in-law David Bouldry of Wells, Maine; her son, Mark Lamarre and daughter-in-law Jeanne Lamarre of Londonderry; and son Eric Lamarre of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Claire Lind of Bristol, R.I.; and a sister, Virginia Lind of Fort Pierce, Fla. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Valerie Sargent of Laconia, Deirdre Golletto of France, Carolyn Bouldry of Norfolk, Va., Jennifer Bouldry of Seattle, David Bouldry of Wells, Maine, Jamie Lamarre of Brookline, Mass., and Jace Lamarre of Londonderry; and great-grandchildren.

The Lamarre family wishes to thank the staff of the Merrimack County Nursing home for the excellent care given to Barbara during her stay at the facility.
