Barbara Jean Lewis

   Mrs. Barbara Jean Lewis age 79 of Kelly Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Monday December 20, 2021 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Lewis was born on October 29, 1942 in Erie, PA., the daughter of the late Henry T. Lorence and the late Elizabeth Olwseski Lorence. She retired from the  Miami Dade County School District where she had taught for many years. She had been very active at St. Francis of Assisi and was a Lector. She taught Bridge Class at the Oasis Center and was very active, member and instructor at the Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter N. Lewis and a brother, James Lorence. Barbara was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

     Surviving Mrs. Lewis are one sister, Christine A. Lorence of Lampasas, TX.,, a sister in law, Sandy Lilly of Homestead, FL., a dear friend, George Houdeshell of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and will be announced. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Sharon, PA., where she will rest next to her beloved husband Walter. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Barbara’s memory.
