For more than 25 years Barbara was passionately committed to Houston Ballet. She served in several leadership roles, including board service and as a past Ball chairman.

The board, staff and dancers of Houston Ballet mourn her passing and celebrate her love for dance.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Owsleys during this difficult time.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we extend our most sincere condolences for their loss.

Mrs. Owsley leaves us all with the gift of her legacy as well as the treasure and joy of friendship with her wonderful children and grandchildren.

Warmest regards,

We just heard from the Leland Report about Barbara. A gracious lady who endeared us for years with her great stories and her amazing ability to entertain. We will never forget the beautiful anniversary weekend in Leland to celebrate just a few years with you two. Parties will never be the same in Leland with the Grand Dame of them all gone. Love, Wendy and Tad

ALVIN:
My life with Kenneth in Houston was eminently richer for all that you and Barbara contributed to the community.

As G.B. Shaw wrote:
"I want to be used up when I die!"
That is what I wish for and that is certainly how it was for Barbara!

Barbara was a true friend to several generations of Lelanders. She possesed a strong sense of family and a playful humor which she readily extended to those around her. Barbara was a parent that took a qenuine interest in her children's friends. She understood what really matters in life and her influence shows in her children and grandchildren.

Barbara was a lovely soul. She was always the most glamorous of my friends' mothers, and, as I grew up and became more aware of more important aspects, I discovered what an elegant intellectual she was. She graced each gathering, and leant the world charm. She has left a legacy, and it seems the air has left the room with her departing.
