Barbara Judith (Jurgan) Patella, age 78 of Brick, died on Monday, 6/4/18 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Clark and Colts Neck before moving to Brick 21 years ago. She was employed for over 30 years with Meridian Health Systems in various capacities, most recently as a Medical Records Clerk at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren each of whom she cherished. She also enjoyed dogs, owning one most of her life. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 31 years, Raymond M. Patella, Jr. in 1995 and by her daughter, Evelyn Diedrichsen in 2011. She is survived by her loving son, Raymond M. Patella, III and his wife, Lisa of Ocean City, NJ; a brother, Richard Jurgan of West Chester, PA; three sisters, Lillian Perkowski of Bryn Mawr, PA, Eileen Leo of Haverford, PA and Marion McDermott of Lakewood; four grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Victoria and Jacob; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Friends may call on Friday, 7-9 PM at Colonial Funeral Home - 2170 Hwy. 88 Brick, NJ 08724. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 10:00 AM at St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick. Interment is private. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her honor to your local humane society to support and provide a forever home to the dogs she loved or to the Popcorn Park Zoo at ahcares.org.
