BARBARA LYNN REIMER (nee KLEYH) September 12, 1950 - August 4, 2013 It is with great sadness and deep regret that we announce the passing of Barb Reimer, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully in her sleep on August 4 with her children and her sister by her side in the Palliative Care Unit in Nanaimo. Barb was predeceased by her father, Nicholas Kleyh, her mother and father-in-law, Anna and Isaac Reimer and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Michele, her son, Craig (Candace), her precious grandchildren, Jonah and Nate, her mother, Eleanor, her siblings, Jim (Joan), Penny (Ken), Randy (Bonnie), and Rob (Carol) as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Barb grew up in Winnipeg and a few years after marrying, settled in Warren where she raised her family and called it home for nearly 20 years. During that time, she was very involved in the community and was an active participant in her children's extra curricular activities such as coaching and managing ringette, soft ball, hockey and baseball. In the early 1990s, she moved to Nanaimo, where she made many new friends and enjoyed entertaining her 'old' Manitoba friends who came out to visit. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as partaking in some good cheer with her best buds, also known as 'the twisted sisters'. She always loved her annual visits to Lester Beach, sitting around the bonfire, listening to country music, playing spoons and singing along with her favourite uncle on the guitar. Barb loved her sports, especially the CFL! Whether it be the Lions or the Bombers, she didn't miss a game and every one was marked on her calendar. Barb was a kind and caring person with a big heart. She has given the gift of her eyes so that others may have the gift of sight. Many thanks to Kelly from Home Care Support in Nanaimo, as well as the nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Hospital who took great care of her in her final days. A Memorial Service will take place on August 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the Richmond Kings Community Centre, located at 666 Silver Stone Avenue in Fort Richmond, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3E 0V9. "Know that I'm not really gone, no, not while you're around, instead let a smile shine through, and I'll bet you'll see me smiling too".
