Barbara W. Siebel, nee Wright, of Chicago, age 78. Beloved wife of the late William R. Siebel, loving sister of Deborah (Michael) Maggio, Patricia (David Ranney), Charles IV (Lisa) Wright, and James (Susan) Wright; devoted daughter of the late Charles III and Evelyn (nee Quasthoff); fond aunt of Alice (Stuart) Creason, Anna (Paul) Spector, Andrew (Rachel) Maggio; Charles V and Lindsay Wright; Kathryn and Elizabeth Wright; Christopher (Diana) Ranney; Karen (David) Sislow; and Bryan (Jurgita) Siebel; and great-aunt to Madelyn (Austin) Kolb, Hannah and Nathen Sislow; Archer and Evelyn Maggio; Taylor and Amber Ranney. 


Barbara graduated from Mundelein College and earned her master’s degree in art history from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She dedicated 25 years to teaching at Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM). In her free time, she had a passion for traveling, having explored all seven continents. Barbara's interests included art, nature, and ornithology (birds), and she once expressed her desire to be reincarnated as a chickadee due to her deep love for birds.


A Memorial Mass will be held on December 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 1630 N. Cleveland, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the Washington Island Art and Nature Center (www.wianc.org). Arrangements entrusted to the Original Kuratko Family – Brian D. Kuratko, Funeral Director. I will truly miss my dear mentor, colleague and friend, Barbara Siebel. I feel genuinely blessed and honored to have worked with Barb in my first teaching job at Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in Westchester. A treasured member of the IHM faculty, Barb was greatly respected and admired for her integrity, trustworthiness, and wise leadership. As IHM´s Art Department Chairperson, Barb graciously welcomed me, a naïve first-year teacher who had just graduated from college, to IHM....
