Barbara J. Strauss, 77, of Bangor, passed away, Saturday, February 4, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Gary W. Strauss, who passed away, December 15, 2013. Born in Bangor, September 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Foster H. and Hilda E. (Wooten) Bray. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a seamstress for various garment mills in the Slate Belt Area. Prior to that she was a telephone operator for the former Commonwealth Telephone Company. After retiring, she was a ticket taker at Pen Argyl High School athletic events. Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Bangor High School and was a member of UNITE, formerly the ILGWU. She is survived by two sons, Gregg W. and his wife Barbara A. of Bangor, Brad A. and his wife Holly C. of Wind Gap, a daughter Stacy J. of Bangor, three grandchildren, Zachary and Peyton Strauss and Chiara Munoz, a brother, Harry Bray and his wife Carolyn of Pen Argyl, a sister Norma Hoglander and her husband Ed of Florida, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl. There will be a viewing beginning at 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to St. Luke's Hospice, Development Office, 801 Ostrum Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
