Barbara Jean Dorothy Taptiklis

I started to read to Mrs Taptiklis two or three years ago. She had chosen a book about ancient history and civilisations and thought it the sort of book that needed to be read aloud by a young man! After that, we moved on to Dostoyevsky, Kingsley Amis, an Armenia writer whose name I have forgotten, and her son's book about management theory - Mrs Taptiklis's interests were very broad!

I very much enjoyed my hours with her. She was such a fine example for me. At over 90 years...

I have known Mrs Taptiklis for 5 years and have very happy memories of helping her sort paperwork, good conversation and cups of tea in her flat. She was a remarkable role model; with a zest for life and interest in people; I shall miss her.
My thoughts are with her friends and family
