Ferney: Private family services for Barbara Tewksbury, 70, of Ferney will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Rev. Lloyd Redhage will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.

Barb passed away Jan. 16, 2011, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Barbara Jean was born on Nov. 3, 1940, on a farm southeast of Ferney to Frank and Mathilda “Tillie” (Bahr) Nehls. She was the youngest of five children. Barb attended school in Groton. On Aug. 10, 1960, she united in marriage with Kenneth Tewksbury in Aberdeen. Together they made their home on the family farm and raised two sons.

Barb enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo. She also liked taking road trips and shopping.

Celebrating her life through memories is her husband, Kenneth; her sons, Randy (Violet) Tewksbury of Groton, Steve (Betty) Tewksbury of Groton; three grandchildren, Brad (Sarah) Tewksbury, Amanda (Chris) Eye, Heidie (Jullian) Kraig; and five great-grandchildren: Jacob Tewksbury, Dezirae Bohn, Jace Bohn, Isabella Kraig and Aubrey Kraig. Barb is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Syhre, of Aberdeen and Rose Tewksbury, of Groton; and her brother, Robert (Ella Mae) Nehls, of Aberdeen.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank Nehls and Mathilda (Nehls) Feller; and her brother, Lyle Nehls.
