I just learned Barbara passed away in 2018. She stood for traditional well respected and dedicated ER nurse director for many years while I worked as intern and attending otolaryngology staff at the SIUH. God bless her soul and her family. Kenneth Wooh, MD.

I just came across this notice online.

Barbara was my principle mentor at the beginning of my nursing career. Her passion for lifesaving care was infectious and propelled me to my own 40 year career in providing lifesaving care.

I will remember her fondly till my last breath.

I was an EMT and then RN at the SIH ER and "Mrs. Unrein" was the nurse manager there at the time. She was a phenomenal person, and I had the utmost respect for her. Her expertise, integrity, and compassion are legendary memories for me. Her professionalism and integrity have served as a lifelong example.

Ah RIP Barbara Unrein.What a great nurse , boss & Mentor. I was lucky to be one of her staff nurses while she was the E.D.Supervisor. I was a Med Surg nurse at the old SIH . I had a premature baby 11/78 I returned to the new building ED feb 1979.- aug 85 when my family moved to Dover De. The best job I ever had Exciting time!
