It has been almost 21 years since my dear friend left this life to be present with the Lord. Absent with the body, present with the Lord. I miss her dearly. It took me some time to learn about SGM Banks' ultimate sacrifice for this country. I feel sad that such an intelligent, caring soldier with a bright future in the Army is no longer with us. It took some time, but I can share now. I first met SGM Bank at FT Irwin CA (95/96). I was a young PV2 ans was SSG and later got promoted to SFC. She took me under her wings as a young Food Service Specialist (94B). As a true professional, she quickly be became a mentor even though she didn't know at the time. As only she could, she showed how to hone my craft OJT and what a Soldier should be. I was in Maryland when I got the news and broke my heart and still bothers me to this day. Enough...
