Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. His family wishes to thank all the friends and family who encouraged and supported Barkev throughout his 14 month ordeal and also Hospice of Virginia and its wonderful staff whose help was immeasurable. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Armenian Education Center, c/o St. James Armenian Church, whose purpose is to enlighten and prevent future genocides, or St. James Armenian Church, 834 Pepper Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226 or the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Ben was personally one of the most peace inducing people i've known. From days riding the bus to elementary school, as i remember, to our 50th hs reunion, talking with him was a marked pleasure.
I hoped i'd see him again--maybe i will if i deserve that half as much as he does.

Ben, what a great person. Ben was a mentor to me when we both worked at PMUSA (Altria) and I cherish all the experiences we shared, both personally and professionally. May God continue to bless Ben's family and comfort you during this great loss, a loss shared by all that knew and loved him.

Dale and Family,
I wish to offer my condolences for your loss. I have never met you, but I feel I know you since Ben and I often compared family notes.
Ben and I worked at Philip Morris R&D and at the Operations Center. We also did some business travel, the last one to Dusseldorf Germany just a few months prior to our retirement. I will miss Ben's sense of humor that made work go by easier, but also his ability to give advice with regards to work or family issues. Ben and I,...

Benny had one of the best sense of humors in our class, and he was without snobbery or airs, I always thought. His heart was genuine and big. I'm very sad that I cannot look forward to again standing and talking with him AND that I didn't even know that he had such a strong interest in genocide, an interest of my own.
