On behalf of the family I'd like to thank everyone for these wonder remembrances. While most we have not met, your names are familiar from many a dinner table conversation. It's great to read these vignettes of how your lives crossed. Thank you again.

I had the pleasure of working with Barney at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon/Health Maintenance of Oregon. He was always available to anyone with questions, listened carefully and gave a thoughtful response. I learned a lot from him because he was a willing teacher. Please accept my sympathy.

Barney understood health care policy like no one else. He was a master at moderating Oregon Health Forum events asking engaging questions and will be greatly missed Diane Lund-Muzikant

So many memories; so many laughs. Barney made working together meaningful and a joy. Barney was the heart of healthcare innovation in Oregon and a wonderful friend.

I was fortunate to work with Barney in multiple health environments for more than 20 years. He made major contributions to multiple health reform policies during those years and led key implementations of many of those policies. He was the sharpest guy in almost any health policy discussion. He cared about people at multiple levels and made a difference in their lives. He led by example. He will be missed but his influence lives on.
