Not sure what to say?

Sorry to read about Barry's passing in The Oregonian. I played bridge with him a few times, but generally played as an opponent. Barry was very kind in pointing out my bridge mistakes. He was an excellent bridge player

I knew Barry Chappelle when I had him him as my math teacher at Jefferson. He gave me a D. I was working at Holiday Park Plaza when he walked in the Deli and we would talk about the grade he gave me. He had fun telling everyone even my husband Jim. I know what you and your family are going through. I lost Jim in January. Think about all the good good times and you will be just fine.

I enjoyed knowing Barry during our time as Jefferson HS staff. Talking with him recently brought back lots of good memories.

Barry always had time for my parents (who thought a lot of him) and visited them often in their aging years. I did not know him as well, but he was very kind and generous with his time. They were always so happy to see him visit

We miss Barry at Holladay Park Plaza where he helped the residents for many years. Barbara and Barry also played Bingo with the residents for a long time. We miss his him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Barry, first as a fellow teacher at Jefferson, but also as a neighbor in Southeast Portland. It was such a treat to find him again, driving the service bus for Holladay Park Plaza, where my mom resided. He was so kind and considerate to everyone. Barry always had such a pleasant, easygoing way about him and I will always remember him fondly.

I played bridge with Barry. He was a great guy and will be missed at the club
