Barry Gelman passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on January 27, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA to Jacqueline Gelman (nee Shapiro) and the late Harry Gelman. Barry was survived by his loving wife, Donna Gelman, his children Wendy Gelman, Randy Gelman (and their mother Oscarine), Kimberly Curran, Jessica Gericke (Bill), and four grandchildren James Haworth, Haley Gelman, Emma Curran, and Lukas Curran, his brother-in-law Daniel Furio and sister-in-law Denise Parmer, Aunt Ann, and a host of family and friends. Barry was a proud graduate of Samuel Fels High School. He worked at Veterans Stadium with his father selling Eagles and Phillies novelties. This fostered Barry's love for Philadelphia Sports. Barry worked a number of years at PizzaRoma. He and Donna met during his time working there. Barry was a longtime employee of Peerless Pest Control, working there for over 25 years before retiring for health reasons. Barry and Donna loved to travel, taking many trips to Las Vegas, as well as going on multiple cruises in the Caribbean. They loved to spend time at the casino and frequently made trips to Atlantic City. He was a resident at the Roosevelt Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the last 3 years where he ran the snack shop and was a friend to all. A private service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 for immediate family with a burial following at Har Nebo Cemetery and Monuments. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service will be streamed on Facebook at 1030 AM on McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations Facebook Page and on some of the family members' FB pages. (More details to follow) Barry was a grateful recipient of a liver donation in 2011. My Uncle Barry was one of a kind. The best. Not a day goes bye that I don't think of him. He will always have a special place in my heart. I know he is watching over me. My cousin Barry was the best guy you would want to meet .He literally would give you the shirt off his back . He was very close to my dad. Barry was with my dad when he past away. That has given me great comfort.You will surely be missed by everyone who loved you.RIP
