Barry Glick liked to help people.
Jean Neufeld, his daughter, said that at lunchtime her father would often descend from his 64th-floor office to the ground floor of the World Trade Center complex and look for tourists who seemed lost.
Mr. Glick, who was 56, was risk manager for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In that role, he handled insurance matters for the various properties the agency owns. His group had only recently finished six or seven years of work dealing with insurance matters stemming from the 1993 bombing of the trade center.
Away from the office, Mr. Glick and his wife, Judy, enjoyed travel, music and the arts. For many years the couple were subscribers to the New York State Ballet in Saratoga Springs.
He was also crazy about pop music from the 1950's and 60's.
"We both liked the oldies," said Leonard Jacob, who knew Mr. Glick for about 20 years. "He was an expert on it, from who the groups were to where they were from to when a particular record came out."
Alan Weissman, another friend, said he had received a letter from Mr. Glick on Sept. 10. "We were planning to take a trip to Italy this summer," Mr. Weissman said. "The letter talked about possible itineraries."
That trip will probably be postponed, Mr. Weissman said.
"I don't think we will be going," he said. "It would be kind of painful."

It is many years later. I grew up with Barry on e34th st in Paterson. We were friends for many years
I found out about Barrry' fate and more importantly his heroism on that fateful day..
Barry introduced his Irish Catholic friend to his friends, including Jack Mechanic, and we all hung around together
Barry took me to Synagogue a fe times and to a few Bar Mitzfahs.
I went off to the Navy, Barry to school and we never saw each other again.
My deepest prayers...

I, also, just learned of Barry's passing. I too was a fraternity brother of Barry's at R-MC. I remember our many bridge matches. He and John Mayer also said that any match I was involved in was the longest ordeal (I was a novice - they were experts). Barry was always a kind soul and a great guy. Toni and I wish to extend to you and your family our condolences for your tragic loss and pray that you will find comfort in the many good memories you have of your life together.
