Not sure what to say?

Barry is a visionary leader and a towering figure in the field of metrology. His legacy in national, regional and global metrology communities is truly enduring. Barry was loved by NIM colleagues in particular for his warm personality. We are grateful to him for his profound kindness in promoting the bilateral cooperation between China and Australia in the field of metrology, especially as a inaugural member of NIM´s International Advisory Board. Barry will forever live on in our stories...

I met Barry exactly 20 years ago - two decades filled with many lovely memories. The first time was at the annual meeting of NMI Directors. By that time, he was already serving as Vice-President of the CIPM. His long and fruitful relationship with the BIPM was marked by thirty-five visits, each lasting several days, and sometimes even weeks. Barry was exceptional in many ways. He will be remembered for his outstanding scientific legacy and will stand as one of the most influential figures in...

I am deeply sorry to know the passing of Dr. Barry Inglis. I know Dr. INGLIS while I was working at NMI North Ryde. He always encourages and motivateds staff to do their best regardless of any adverse conditions and takes up challenges. I was shocked to know his passing till today from LinkedIn. DR. Inglis, You will not be forgotten. To Dr.Inglis family, please accept my condolences during this difficult time. Dr. INGLIS, rest in peace. Joseph Lau Former NMI staff at North Ryde.

Barry´s contributions to the work of the BIPM, of the APMP and of the NMIA were enormous. He was a giant in our field. He had a deep understanding of the impact of metrology and had a vision for it to be both international and collaborative. I had the privilege to work with him closely. He was thoughtful with his advice and generous with his support. It was always fun to talk to Barry. Conversations that started with "work" always finished on running, cricket and rugby. My last email from...

Barry was a creator, nurturer and custodian - of knowledge, of careers, and of relationships. He cared deeply about measurement science and stood up for it because it matters. The foundations Barry laid enabled many others to build on. He had a genuine interest in people and cared for them, setting an example for those around him. We shared a love of running, and when I think of him, I picture him on a sunny day in Lane Cove National Park striding along with his mates. I am immensely grateful...

Barry has been a mentor and guide for me since interviewing me in the early 90s, not only for my professional life but also for personal challenges. Always with a willing and ear and deeply considered sage and compassionate advice: an approach he was always willing to extend to colleagues both within Australia and around the world. Barry often said that our field of metrology was something akin to a religious calling, and for many of us, he was the high-priest. He will be missed.

My condolences to Barry's family. I knew Barry from early NMI days. He held such a busy and responsible job but still seemed to have time for a chat. I will cherish my meetings with him.

My enduring memory of Barry will always be, one of nature´s true gentlemen.

So sad to hear this great loss, he was such a remarkable and great person in all aspects! I had good connection with him in all my carrier years in NMIA, since 1998. Remember talking with him sometimes in our canteen during morning tea, and also in our lab, which is beyond our expectation from such a high-level & outstanding prominent person. Still remember when last time had chat with him in the canteen, only 2-3 months ago. He will be in our memory forever.
