Barry B. Levine

Barry was larger than life, had immense confidence, and a wonderful sense of humor. The world feels like a smaller place without him. Sincere condolences to Rosie, and sons.

We both worked with Barry for years at FIU and enjoyed his company and conversations. We cherish these memories and offer our deepest sympathy to Rosario and all his family.

I have so many fond and interesting memories of my time at FIU taking classes and working with Barry. He was a very unique character that challenged me in ways that no one else really did. And let me add, those were weird, but very useful ways.

My favorite memory relates to my dissertation. I was sitting in the office of my PhD chair weeping because he had yet another stack of changes for me to do. Barry was a member of my committee, and he walked to the door way with my draft...

I’m sorry to hear of Dr. Levine’s passing — he was a wonderful professor with an easygoing attitude and great sense of humor. When computer space for graduate students was limited, he let me use his office. He also wrote me several letters of recommendation for funding. He will be remembered fondly by many students from over the years!
