Ellis and I are so very sorry to learn of Barry's death. We were long time friends when we lived in NYC. Ellis was one of Barry's PhD students back in the day. We had a fun and memorable trip to a Math conference in San Francisco with him back in the '70s. I believe he made ratatouille the first time we all had dinner with him...I recall his playful and teasing spirit. Up until about 5 years ago we continued to hear from him by phone occasionally. Rest peacefully my dear Barry. Barry and I became friends in 2005. He was always filled with stories about his life and travels. He loved his cat he named Gray had he rescued from the SPCA. My dear sweet Barry. I pray he is resting peacefully. He and I became friends in 2005. Barry was always filled with stories about his life. He loved his cat named Gray and enjoyed a good glass of wine while watching old movies. He kept up on current events and wrote letters to the editor when he could.
