Ellis and I are so very sorry to learn of Barry's death. We were long time friends when we lived in NYC. Ellis was one of Barry's PhD students back in the day. We had a fun and memorable trip to a Math conference in San Francisco with him back in the '70s. Rest peacefully my dear Barry. Barry and I became friends in 2005. He was always filled with stories about his life and travels. He loved his cat he named Gray had he rescued from the SPCA. Barry loved a good glass of wine and watching old movies. He enjoyed staying up-to-date with current events and wrote many letters to the editor when he could.
