Barry Milton Riggs was born September 30, 1952, in Orange, Texas, and died Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Barry graduated from Stephens High School in 1970 and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a member of the UAM Rodeo Team that attended the national finals in Montana two years in a row. Barry met Debra Edwards, his college sweetheart, at Monticello. They were married May 22, 1975. She and his four children and grandchildren survive him: Cade Riggs and Alexia, Jim and Charlie of Leander, TX, Melissa and David Bradley and Jace of Canton, GA, Laura Riggs and Winter Bowers of Honolulu, HI, and J. Riggs of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many cherished friends, and brother, Ron Kelley of Camden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Verda and Charles Riggs, and sister, Belinda, of Frenchport, and brother, Eddy, of Montana.

Barry had an extensive career in the West Texas oilfields, in volunteer EMS and fire services, and served in law enforcement after returning to Arkansas. Currently Barry was the OEM coordinator for Ouachita County. He was deputy chief of Frenchport Volunteer Fire Department, served on its board, was the former commander of the OCSO reserves, president of the Mt. Horeb Cemetery Assn., a supporter of Camden's Daffodil Festival, and an active member of Cullendale First Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Cullendale First Baptist Church.  The family has requested that memorials be made to the Frenchport Volunteer Fire Department, 167 Ouachita 65, Camden, AR 71701. Barry loved hunting, the Razorbacks, old Western movies and his family. But, mainly, Barry loved people.

My condolences to the Riggs Family. I had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Barry Riggs through him coming and working at our athletic events at Camden Fairview School District. I can say he was a man that was dependent and one that took his job seriously. He was always polite and he made you feel that every thing was under control. I will be praying for comfort and strength for the Riggs Family. God bless you and may he keep you during this time of bereavement.

My thoughts and prayers are with family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
