Barry Loyd Sanders, 79, of Blanchard, passed away in Norman on July 24, 2022.  The son of Virgil Hall Sanders and Gladys Irene (Brazil) Sanders, Barry was born on June 1, 1943, in Halls, Tennessee. 


Barry lived in Tennessee until he as eight, and then moved to Michigan where he lived until moving to Oklahoma in 1998.  He and Pat made their home in Blanchard in 2005.  Barry married Patricia Helen Kerr on October 23, 1976. 


He retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan after 30 years of service.  His work there was as a fork truck driver.  Along with his work at GM, Barry has always farmed.  He loved working with cattle and horses, and the family said no dog was ever a stranger to Barry.  He enjoyed showing his horses in Western Pleasure and Halter classes.  During the last few years, Barry enjoyed working with woodworking, where he made his and Pat’s dining room table and crafts like birdhouses.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blanchard since 2006.


Barry was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gilbert and Edward Sanders.


Barry is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Helen “Pat” Sanders of Blanchard; one daughter, Colette Marie Sanders of Norman; grandchildren, Jacob McIvor and wife Nicole of Rockford, Michigan, Hank McIvor and wife Kelly of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Jett Grunzel of Norman; sisters-in-law, Sandy Smith and husband Dannie of Yukon and Pat Sanders of Grayline, Michigan; brother-in-law, Joseph Kerr of Raleigh, North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.     


A Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Blanchard, Oklahoma.  Interment to follow at Blanchard Cemetery, Blanchard, Oklahoma.  Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard, Oklahoma.  Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either Polycystic Kidney Foundation or Jesus’ Lamb Mother’s Day Out Program at First United Methodist Church, Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Well I sure will miss Barry. I was just his dental hygienist but I loved getting to know him over the years. He was a very special man. He loved his family and his animals so very much. He will be missed for sure.
