Not sure what to say?

I'll miss my good friend of 23 years very much. I still can't believe it. Doesn't seem real and it's definitely not fair. He always grounded me and others around him. Anytime my anxieties were in swing, I could always count on him to help settle me down. He was very considerate ,generous, nonjudgmental and always a pleasure and fun to be around. Just like Penny. They were perfect for each other and I'm so sad for her and his parents. We shared a lot of common interests and he was always my...

Barry was a friend to many, and I am grateful to have known him. Together with many others, we shared a lot of good and crazy times. Though Barry was often quiet, what always came through was a gusto for life and art, art that depicted the harsh realities, struggles, and fears that people face. Whether a favorite Black Sabbath tune, zombie movie, or painting by Possum, Barry enthusiastically gave his support. Yet, despite his understanding of the dark side of life, he was always ready to...

Barry worked at our company for 22 years and everyone there loved and respected him. I considered him my "boy" and always got a big hug when I saw him. He was always smiling, kind to all, never in conflicts, and very easy going. He was the ideal employee and even more a very special man. Will miss him forever and my heart is broken. Blessings for his family. Linda & Jerry Thompson

It is true what they say about "only the good die young." We are still here working on our souls to be the best they can be. But Barry was complete. He was a rare breed. Anyone who knew him can agree. I'm so sorry for the family and for Penny. And the hundreds of people who will have a huge hole in their hearts these days ahead. Barry, if we could all be more like you, and your gentle spirit, the world would be a better place! You will be missed.

I was blessed with Barry's friendship for about 20 years. He was so very good at being a friend, at finding joy, and helping the rest of us find it too. Through my deep sorrow, I can still hear him laughing, and I hope everyone who loved him can hear it too.

Penny, Our hearts go out to you now and in the days ahead.
Love,
Tom & Dot

Barry was a great, warm, and completely unique person. Some of the best times of my life were record store trips with Barry when we were teenagers. Those of us who grew up in Greenwood had a special bond and I had really enjoyed bumping into Barry around B'ham the past couple of years. He will be greatly missed.

Barry was the sweetest, most loving and caring person I have ever known in this life. Total transparency, what you saw with Barry was what you got. Just a geniune, pure soul. The stories I could tell about our 30+ year friendship could fill.a book. My heart is heavy with the loss of my dear friend and I pray for Light and healing for Penny, his friends and family. God bless you all..
