Bart Ahern, age 78, of St. John, IN passed away at home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

Bart is survived by his three children: Robert (Kathy) Lemmon of Dawson, IL, Charlene (Thomas) Govert of Schererville, Carolyn (Darrell Arthur) Scurlock of Gary; six grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren: and sisters; Carole Schmitt, Sharon Mariga and Maureen Oppy.

Bart was preceded in death by his former wife: Ellen Lemmon-Ahern.

Bart was an Airforce Veteran and retired electrician from Teamsters Local 134 out of Chicago, IL.  He enjoyed spending time at his cottage with his family and friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 12:00 NOON until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM with Fr. Theodore Mens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Bart’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

To the family of Bart, we were deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Foxwood Hills will never be the same without him. Bart was a fun guy to talk with and we will miss that. You all have our deepest sympathies and may God give you His comfort now and in the times to come.

Frank, Mandy, and family enjoyed his company at the lake. He will be greatly missed for sure. Barts entire family is in our prayers.

Bart was a great guy. We new each other from Glen Park in the 60's, & 70's. He loved his family and his boat. He would sit with my husband in the boat in his back yard drinking a couple of beers, when he didn't have time to get the boat in the water. We were talking and he was telling me McCormick place was finally finished since it was a two year project and was ready to be moved into. Than I had to tell him, it had a fire and burned to the ground. He hadn't heard the news and was...

I am so very sorry to hear of Bart's passing. I hope your memories will bring you comfort and peace.

A good guy. Had lots of fun working together in the 70's. I still say things he said back then. Rest in peace.
