Bart Camossi

1931-2023

West Springfield - Original Rink Rat, Korean War Veteran, and world's most caring and compassionate grandfather Bart Camossi passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2023. Born and raised in West Springfield, Bart was the youngest of 5 siblings on the avenue. An avid hockey player at West Springfield High School, he went on to coach for a number of years and even went on to play at American International College. Following his college hockey days, he went into the Navy from 1951-1954 winning many awards for his service. A successful businessman who was the owner of A&B Electric, also built and co-owned Ashley Arms and Olympia manor. Keeping his West Springfield roots strong, he was a member of the Dante Club where he loved to treat his family to their Wednesday Night Dinners. As an older adult, Bart was a member of the speed limits senior hockey team who were the top team at the annual competition held in Santa Rosa California by Charles Schultz of "Peanuts" fame.  He loved his Thursday morning skates with his guys. Bart survived by his wife Anna Camossi, daughter Lisa Camossi, son Mark Camossi, and his granddaughters Carly Camossi, Stephanie Welch, Addison Camossi, and Taylor Camossi. Bart was predeceased by his daughter Lori Camossi and his favorite granddaughter Corey Camossi. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday starting at 12:30pm and ending with a funeral home service at 2:00pm followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.  As one of West Side hockey's biggest fans, Bart was adamant that he wanted to support the high school hockey team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Springfield Hockey Booster Club, 46 Pease Ave West Springfield, MA 01089.

My condolences to the family. I remember Mr. Camossi strong support for and our 1977 Championship WS Soccer team. I did not know he was one of the original rnk rats.

My sincere sympathy to Bart's family ~ So sorry for your loss.

Dear Camossi Family, We are saddened with the passing of a true friend in Bart. The Carrazza family sends our sympathies. Sincerely, Frank & Sue Carrazza

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Camossi. He was a great hockey coach, and knowing that he came from the legendary "Rink Rats" made me respect him even more. I saw him with his granddaughter at the Cyr Arena for public skating about six years ago. I'm very glad I had a chance to speak with him at that time.

Sorry for your loss, great man, coach. Much respect for him

Many years ago I lived at Olympia Manor where Bart did our electrical and some maintenance work. He was so good with everything. No matter what your problem was he always came with a smile to fix it. At the beginning he was a little on the shy side, but after a while, he would warm up and we would talk for quite a while. What a very nice man and I’ll never forget him. My heart goes out to his family and friends who loved him so much. God bless you all. Rest in peace, Bart. ❤
