I completed my University of Michigan Residency/PostDoc with Barth and we kept in touch for over 25 years. He was the kindest friend I have ever known and brilliant and an amazing human being. I lost touch the past two years due to serious health issues of my own. I will greatly miss him. Robert Perna

I went to High school with Barth. Probably the most intelligent man I ever met. Had not seen him since graduation in 1982 and had the wonderful opportunity of running into him in 2018 on a street in Chicago where me and my wife had gone for our anniversary. We are so very sad and shocked to find out that Barth passed away in 2021. We have kept up with Barth on a yearly basis but the past 2 years have been hectic. This saddens us that we just recently learned of his passing. Barth was a wonderful guy with a very soft heart. He was thoughtful, concerned about other persons´ well-being, and enjoyed being with people. He always had good and encouraging words to say.
