Not sure what to say?

Just before he passed away, Bart and I had a private talk at his bedside. I was there when his doctor came in and motioned for me to leave so they could converse. I was standing up when Bart said, "he can stay." The doctor nodded and I sat back down. It was the worst news. Bart just stared at the ceiling and I remained silent and motionless. Finally Bart stared at me. "I already knew," he said.

I nodded. Then I looked at his eyes. "So ... it looks like your movie is coming...

I met "Unka Bart" on an Audi Quattro Mailing List. Great guy with a wonderful sense of humor and scads of knowledge and common sense. He's missed.

Bart worked directly with me for 12 years, he was a friend and compatriot. I could always count on Bart. His Vietnam experiences never left him, but he also never wore them on his sleeve. He had a very good way of always reminding me on what was really important. I am sure he fought this disease tenaciously. A very good American. We are dimished by his passing.

Ohhh Bart, I tried to call you and got disconnected phone numbers. I'll miss talking with you - maybe we'll meet again in another life. It was great knowing you - we had some good times together.
Susan, if I can do anything, I am at [email protected]
-Love, Tracy

It was my privilege to have met Bart. My heartfelt condolences to Susan.

To Susan, my Brother's wife whom he loved more than words, even Bart's, could ever adequately explain.
I love you and cherish the times we spent together. Will we we ever forget Bessie Chambers (ashes) being left at the dock at Macinac Island? Or the special talks we had when visiting Bart's Grandparent's home in MI? Many more memories exist for me that you missed but heard about. He visited my family in Columbia and stayed awhile as did Bea. Mom and Dad loved him as much as any...

Bart, I met you at the fitness center in Pace Florida. After learning some of your health challenges, I was amazed how hard you worked to keep going, to get better and stronger each day. You were a true "mountain climber" In the military we wanted to have a leader who said "follow me men" and we were sure that you would carry us out if I were unable to make it on my own. You were that kind of leader. Rest well my friend. Jerry Nicholson Pace Fl.

My deepest condolences to the family during this time.

Susan and the Koehler family, our hearts go out to you. Bart was a very special guy, but you already know that. We were all honored to know him.
Much Love ... Phil and Mary Ann Hoffman
