Not sure what to say?

So many great memories of my Uncle Basil-too many to list. He and Aunt Kathie always "showed up" smiling for family activities and generously hosted dinners indoors and "out to eat" to stay connected with those around the table, showing their love, and giving affirmation and encouragement. He was a great story teller, had a giving heart to help others, and champion the less fortunate.

I remember Mr. Babcock from 6th Grade at Thurston School as well. He was soft spoken and patient, and some of my favorite times were when we listened to him read "The Hobbit" to us during the quiet times in class. He was a great teacher and I have fond memories of 6th grade because of him.

Mr. Babcock was my 6th grade teacher at Thurston Elementary about 35 years ago - he was a gentle giant!! He was intellectual and kind. I’ll never forget him!

You will not see my penmanship in this typed memory, but because of Mr. Babcock, I get many compliments to this day on my beautiful cursive writing. Every week, there was a writing assignment with lined paper that he would grade and give check+++ if you did well.
I had Mr. Babcock for 6th grade at Thurston, and he REALLY instilled in us some very good habits. A very orderly classroom, with quiet reading time and assigned seats. Messing around was not tolerated, so we got a lot done that...

Dear Kathy, we sent a card to your address on Kuehnle, but it was returned. We were all so sad to hear of Basil's death. We have many fond memories of his kindness toward Nikki, and your tutoring of Nikki. I recall the time when you had a bat in the house, and as I waited in your living room for the tutoring session to end, the bat floated from one side to the next. No one was fazed, the tutoring continued. I also remember Basil's passion for UM football. He was a great man.

My Uncle Basil was a very generous, humble, supportive, and kind person. When I was very young he would take us to the University of Michigan Football games and I will always remember the Ohio State games that I went to every other year when they played in Michigan Stadium and, of course, the 1969 game! When my sister, Kerry, and I slept over at their house on the weekend, he would make Kerry, my cousin, Shauna, and I blueberry pancakes in the morning. He is greatly missed, but I know he...

Basil used to come for breakfast at Weber's on Friday mornings and he would tell us we could have the rest of the day off with pay and we would get a raise. He was always so nice and I enjoyed when he and his wife and friend's would come in to Weber's.
Rest in Peace Basil I will miss you.

Basil taught both my daughters at Thurston and they "Blossomed" under his tutelage. My then wife taught KGarten at Logan. I got to know Basie thru our mutual "compulsion" of running the Dex-A2 Half-Marathon and our love for toy trains. I will miss Basie. He was a Great Guy!

May you Rest In Peace. When You stand before God I know He will smile and say, job done well, done very very well.
I had the pleasure of selling this kind, funny, smart man, his paper, at the now closed pharmacy. One thing I know about this man is that he loved his family. I wish that I had known him longer. I wondered how he was doing and it is with a heavy heart that I now know.
May God comfort and be with the family at this difficult time.
Mrs. Babcock, the light in his eyes...
