Not sure what to say?

I was one of Basil Gordon's Ph.d. Students. Basil possessed two remarkable qualities: he was one of the most brilliant mathematicians I've met, and he was one of the kindest people I've ever met. He always maintained very high standards of his students, something that I try to do with my own students, emulating him by example. We miss you, Basil.

I was Professor Gordon's student in the 1970s and he was instrumental in my getting my first paper published. He was always extremely supportive and encouraging, all the while insisting on very high standards. A true scholar, and a wonderful man, May God rest his soul.

I was one of Basil's PhD students. He was a gentleman, and a gentle man. He blessed me in so many different ways. I am not eloquent enough to put into words how much he has meant to me and my family.
He was one of my heros.

Remarkable man! Had the honor of being his algebra student back in the 70's and very saddened by his passing. My sincere condolences to the family.
