Not sure what to say?

Malin and Walter Chamberlain, Weezie and Basil Kennedy and Chuck and Ellen Breath on the dock at Bay Waveland Yacht Club in 1978

We wanted to share a photograph that I took in 1978 of Malin and Walter Chamberlain, Weezie and Basil Kennedy, and Chuck and Ellen Breath on the dock at the Bay Waveland Yacht Club. Now these three friends are united for eternity.

Basil was a true Southern gentleman, friend and incredible father. His memory will truly live on in all the "Basil stories" with laughter that he truly enjoyed. Thoughts and prayers for strength and comfort for Weezie, the girls, and all his extended family. Love you

I had barely finished uttering my interest in learning to sail before someone pointed me in the direction of Basil and Chuck. Both of those men welcomed and encouraged me that first summer. It led to a lifelong friendship and admiration of both. While I am saddened by Basil's untimely passing, I encourage everyone to reflect on the joy he had for life and how he shared that joy so generously.

Weezie-Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family Larry and Lanette Killebrew

We were heartbroken to learn of Basil's unexpected passing. We knew Basil for more than 50 years through Ren's sister Malin and her late husband Walter Chamberlain. We always looked forward to seeing Basil and Weezie during our trips to the Bay and will truly miss his friendship with all the Chamberlains and, by default, with us in Atlanta. Our deepest condolences go out to Weezie and all the Kennedy family at this time of grief. Ren and Helen Davis

Weezie and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Basil was a wonderful man and Amby and I always enjoyed his company, be it work or business. Wishing you all peace and comfort.

Sending prayers to all who loved him. He was a nice man. We enjoyed our ballpark days with him. Connie & Lenny Keel

My first memory of Basil was in the mid 1960's learning to sail in a fishboat on the Bay. To celebrate a successful week of lessons, Basil and Chuck Breath would sail their respective boat crews to deep water, capsize the boats, and watch us from a safe distance get organized and work to right the boat. I've called him a friend ever since. My condolences to Weezie and family. C. Richard Johnson

I served on the board of the Greater Biloxi Economic Development Foundation with Basil and I always enjoyed chatting with him before and after our meetings. I knew he was an avid sailer, as I am. He had a good sense of humor and a funny story to share. May his memory be for a blessing.
